MA Financial assets rise to nearly 16 billion

MA Financial reported assets under management approaching $15.7 billion for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, marking an 18% rise from the prior year.
The loan portfolio expanded to $8.9 billion, up 123% year-over-year, which the firm said provides earnings tailwinds into FY27.
Managed loans grew 19% to $197 million, while net fund inflows reached $710 million, driven by investor appetite for asset-backed and direct corporate lending.
Net fund flows into asset management funds were “resilient” supported by strong gross fund inflows of $710 million driven by support for private credit funds focused on asset-backed and direct corporate lending.
Challenges in credit segment
MA Financial temporarily halted applications and redemptions for its MA Secured Loan real-estate credit fund after limiting August withdrawals to 1 percent of AUM. “This is a prudent measure to assist in the orderly management of the fund in the coming months in the face of less certain repayment timings from some borrowers. Income distributions to investors are expected to continue to be paid monthly.”
Transaction activity and earnings outlook
Transactional activity in real estate and hospitality assets was over $1 billion in the last quarter, which the firm said will benefit EPS in the second half of this financial year.
Corporate advisory transactions in the second half of 2026 to date is expected to deliver an additional $32 million in fees in 2026. Transactions announced during the quarter include MAF acting as financial adviser to Brookfield on its sale of C3 Group, and to Tuhu Car on its acquisition of mycar.
Underlying net profit after tax rose 59% to $35.9 million in the first half of 2026, and the share price gained 2 percent on the day of the update.
Joint CEO Chris Wyke said, “Despite today’s challenging operating market, we believe that the scale and diverse range of our activities positions us well for continued strong growth,” as investors reacted positively to the results with MAF share price up 2 percent on the day of the quarterly update.
